Bridal Skincare Tips

Here are some quick tips from the lovely Gizelle Makeup Artistry on getting skin in perfect shape for your wedding

1. Stick to a Routine

Overloading on beauty and grooming routines just days before you say "I do" can not only leave you looking and feeling less than perfect, but can also increase your stress on the very day you want to look poised and serene!

The best course of action is to plan ahead—setting a schedule that anticipates some of your most important health and beauty needs. While ideally experts say you should start any new routines at least three to four months before your wedding, even 30 days can be adequate.

2. Get That Glow!

Want to enhance that natural glow of happiness that accompanies every bride on her wedding day? Experts at Bridal Guide magazine recommend starting a series of monthly facials beginning as early as six months before your wedding. To help ensure your skin looks picture perfect on the big day, get your last facial at least two weeks pre-wedding.

3. Zap Those Zits

If you already have acne and have some measure of control over it, maintain your regular schedule. Trying new products (like makeup and even shampoo!) in the month before the wedding can be risky—you never know what kind of reaction you might have.

All that wedding stress can cause the occasional pimple, but don’t let that add more stress!

According Mauro Romita, MD, medical director of the Ajune Spa in New York City, if a whitehead appears, a hot compress will reduce it, followed by a cold compress and a little benzoyl peroxide to kill bacteria.

If your skin is irritated from stress he recommends applying cool cotton pads soaked in milk or chamomile tea, followed by an application of lukewarm water.

Timothy Alan, celebrity makeup artist and bridal beauty expert, says some of his clients have had success with the “toothpaste zit zapper,” where you dab a little toothpaste (paste, not gel) on the pimple the night before the big day. This can help shrink and dry the pimple.

If redness persists in the morning Alan recommends applying a drop of Visine to the pimple. Then apply lighter concealer on the pimple, followed by foundation, and a little more concealer that matches your foundation on top. Dust with finely milled face powder to set.
